So here's how this is going to go....
I get so much crap for being a babysitter at 24. Here's the deal though, although I work part time as a nanny, I also hold down a position in an office. On top of that, I live on my own and manage quite well.
I decided to make this blog because recently I have received so many questions, opinions, and, simply, crap regarding taking care of kids.
I work usually three days a week with the boys (aged 5 and 8). I get them from school, take them to therapy, make snacks and dinner, and sometimes put them to bed. In between, of course, I take them to the park, museums, and what not. The problem here, is that many people do not understand why at the tender ripe age of 24 I decide to spend half of my day with kids. I answer, "why not?". And here s why:
1. I get paid cash. Cold. Hard. Cash.
2. I get to relax after the office at a park or museum or anywhere with the kids just playing and having fun.
To emphasize my point, when is the last time that a 24 year old was on the monkey bars? I can happily say that prior to this job, I could not do a single monkey bar, and now I can do 8-10 :)
3. The family is great and the kids are adorable. Nuff said.
I know it sounds like such a bore and like a monkey could do it, but it comes with a lot more responsibility than anyone could think. I feel privileged to get a first hand experience at practicing for my future. I know I will need a year or so off before I plan for marriage much less children, but for now its fun playing house. Plus, I get to give them back when I get way too exhausted. lol.
